CALL FOR PAPERS: Bioelectricity in Healthcare
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 1 June 2025
FOCUS AREAS
Cellular bioelectricity occurs as a result of ion transport across cell membranes and tissues, and represents a crucial cue in guiding cellular differentiation (e.g., stem cells), mutation (e.g., cancer cells), and migration (e.g., wound healing). Electrogenic cells (neurons and muscle cells) exhibit action potentials, i.e. rapid polarization and depolarization of the cellular membrane. However, all types of cells in the human body exhibit bioelectrical properties involved in the regulation of key life processes. Understanding and accessing bioelectrical information under different conditions is of crucial importance for cell monitoring, drug toxicity testing, in vitro tissue models, diagnostics, and fundamental biology.
The guest editors would welcome original research articles, reviews, perspectives, technical
notes and protocols that report on recent advances in membrane electrical phenomena in health and disease. Areas of interest include, but are not restricted to:
Ion channels (structure, function, dynamics)
Electric fields
Electrotaxis
Cancer cell signalling
Morphogenesis, embryogenesis
Wound healing
Stem cell differentiation
Electroceuticals
Electrotherapy
Biosensors, wearable devices
Please refer to our Instructions for Authors before submitting your manuscript for consideration and use manuscript type "Special Issue: Bioelectricity in Healthcare" when submitting your paper. Early submissions are encouraged and will receive prompt and thorough peer-review. Papers will appear online as e-pub immediately following acceptance.
